The Brother HL 1850 Cartridge is cost effective and has made it easier for small and home offices to own a high quality laser printer. This brother printer is cheap but it is also very fast it’s speed rivals many of those high end printers in the market. The printer has almost endless expandability which means that it can be adapted to the requirements of most offices. However we feel that the printer should have a larger paper capacity.
This printer has made it possible for office managers to just dump their old printer and get a new one. The affordable workgroup features are enough reason to dump your old one for this shiny new printer. We liked the fact that the printer worked straight out of the box without extensive configuration.
The guide that comes along with the printer is well illustrated and makes setting Brother HL 1850 printer toner up easy. The printer can be connected either via the provided USB ports or via the sans cable. The cable accompanies the unit so you don’t need to purchase one. The front of the laser printer has a built in three color display which gives clear readouts. The four buttons provided allows you to pick and change the paper type.
The user guide that comes along with the unit on the CD Rom is in PDF format and includes everything you need to know about keeping your printer trouble free and running. Making your printer a member of the local network is as simple as connecting it to the built-in-Ethernet ports and adding an extra 16 MB of ram to the printer.
Now the HL’s paper handling has its ups and its downs. One disappointment is the printer’s paper capacity. The printer can just hold around 350 sheets of paper because it has one 250 sheet tray and one 100 sheet tray. For another two hundred bucks you can purchase another 250 sheet stray bringing your over all capacity to 600 sheets. However its still not enough as compared to the other printers that can hold over a thousand sheets of paper.
On the up side this printer has a great integrated duplexer which is blazing fast and requires no intervention from you. The drivers that accompanies the printer makes it possible for you to chose between either flipping the paper to the left or the right or to the bottom edge. The preset settings let you choose and adjust your printer for stuff such as paper type and size as well as print quality.
You also get a reset button on each tab with means if you don’t like the changes you made you can reset it to its defaults. However there is a lack of a universal reset button which in my opinion should be there. This printer is pretty fast at 19pps.
At 19 pages per second this printer is really fast. As compared to many of the other printers on the market this one does a good job of printing text and graphics. The Brother HL 1850 printer toner has a good capacity which allows it to last much longer than others.
